Third Sector Network supports charities in a variety of ways. If you've not used a consultant before, you might have 100 questions or be nervous about that first step. Perhaps you're are simply interested in what we can offer in terms of charity training.
Either way, drop us a line for an informal chat.
Our consultants are here to listen to what is concerning you and what you want your charity to achieve. After that we offer solutions.
The nature of our support can be as simple as a one off chat via Zoom or Teams where we give you straightforward advice and relatable next steps for you and your charity.

We get it, we really do!
"Consultancy" is a bit of a pretentious sounding word at the best of times and if you're unfamiliar with the process you may be wary of taking on some kind of commitment or concerned about high costs.
If you're interested in principle but unsure about the details, check out our FAQ section below,. It covers most of the basics.
Please reach us at info@thirdsectornetwork.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
It varies enormously. But, our most common form of consultancy support that is requested is periodic online support (via Zoom or Teams) to help charity leaders and professionals navigate subjects and challenges they freely admit they're struggling a bit with.
Sure! Let's imagine your charity is doing OK but, despite your best efforts you're struggling with growth. Maybe you can't seem to reach a larger audience than you had last year or the year before. You're becoming concerned about stagnant growth and other charities overtaking you.
We would schedule a meeting on Zoom/Teams to discuss your concerns and specific circumstances. The minimum we would do is spend the first 30 mins learning about your situation and the second 30 minutes signposting you to the steps you need to take, what you need your priorities to me and help you envisage what plans you need to make. Beyond that we could schedule further sessions to break down the issue into detail, provide 1-2-1 staff training for the relevant people and then support you to create a broader plan and strategy to address the issue[s] and move forwards.
Whilst it is hard for us to put a precise figure on it, due to the broad nature of options we do appreciate this is going to be a key question for some people. So, lets put it like this... We offer 1-2-1 support sessions (that we like to call a 'Power Hour') that are priced at £49 (as of Jan 2025). Beyond this, subsequent hours are charged at as comparable rate.
For an in-depth staff training session delivered remotely, with entirely bespoke content created for your charity, these have historically been priced between £175 and £500 (depending on the nature of the training, naturally). The average price quoted in 2024 for individual sessions was approximately £210.
Yes. Consultancy support is essentially a fancy way of referring to all the different ways we support charities in one broad term. It can sometimes create the presumption we're only talking about in-depth, strategic planning. But, it can simply be a single training session, delivered in person or via Zoom/Teams to help your team understand a subject better or know what steps they need to be taking to develop, improve and grow.
We understand this entirely. So let's spell this out clearly to avoid any ambiguity. We 100% acknowledge that an enquiry is just that. If you contact us asking about the possibility of us providing support we will ask you for a few details about what you want support with. We will then give you a clearly spelled out quote of how much our services cost and simply leave it with you! An enquiry does not trigger a 'sales process' from us. We will never phone your office or the person who enquired to follow up. We may send a single follow up email if we don't hear back within a week or two after our initial quote. But if we don't get a response from that email follow up, that's the last you'll hear from us. We promise.
In principle no. However, we have found support via Zoom and Teams is a popular choice with most charities. This is partly due to expense. We are primarily based in the East Midlands and we would of course need to charge travel expenses to visit you in person. For charities in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the far south of England these may prove prohibitive (for some). However, be assured, whether you are in Penzance or Inverness if you would prefer in-person support we can offer that.
An excellent question (that we've asked ourself here).
Let's say your charity has a problem with awareness levels or securing funding. The last thing you need is to pay someone to come and simply say something like "Believe in yourself more!". We will give you practical, tangible and entirely relatable solutions. We will explain what you need to do, how you do it and if it requires resources or such, where you find that and how you obtain it.
Crucially, all of this will be within the context of your organisation. So, our solutions will be within your budget, available to you and be clear to understand, allowing you to see where you are now and how these solutions get you to where you need to be. We will say "This is what you need to do, this is how you do it, these are the things you'll need to do/get to make that happen, this is the outcome doing all this should lead to."
What's more, we have a strict policy on referrals. We will never refer you to any third parties or recommend any products/services that benefit us in any way. Neither will we ever end a session leaving you needing further support to complete the process.
Whether you arrange 1, 3 or 10 hours support we will make sure the time you have arranged ends with you having what you need to proceed. All the extra time will provide you with is a more in depth approach and a broader range of options.
Right now, you might not be looking for the more in-depth 1-2-1 support consultancy offers. You may have some simple questions and in return want to straightforward answers, in that case you may want to check out our online webinars (available to download now). They offer so much more than simple answers, but they are a great way to start out on the road to success.
