Support for your charity, whenever you need it

Experience & Expertise on Tap

Think of it like this. Your charity hasn't the budget to hire a dedicated staff member for everything, so instead, you use us when you need us.

When you're feeling like you need some guidance, some advice, some pointing in the right direction - you reach out to Third Sector Network.

Everything From Advice to Legwork

Let's say you have a detailed report you need producing and it needs to impress! Perhaps a new strategy document created from scratch?

It's simple - We do it for you! Often with as little as 2-3hrs prep time spent with you, we will have enough to go away and do the whole thing for you!

Mentoring & Support

One of the most common requests for support we receive is mentoring for valued staff. Staff you want to develop, but perhaps they've advanced to a point where their skill-set, confidence and belief needs to play catch up a bit. So, monthly sessions with an experienced charity sector mentor gives them the support they need to feel they can do the job you need them to.

How does it work? - The basics

Usually this starts with something, might be 101 different things, giving you reasons for concern.

Perhaps a junior manager, whilst dedicated, is struggling. Maybe you are getting pressure from trustees to create a bona fide marketing strategy.

Whatever it is, there's something.

Reach Out

The initial contact when you reach out is nothing more than an enquiry with zero commitment.

You're basically saying "I've got this issue, can you help with it?"

We may discuss it with you via email, maybe a 1-2-1 on Teams but there is zero cost or commitment at this stage

Detailed Options

This is the key part!

You've told us what you need help with, now you need clear, detailed options that convince you they will make a difference.

Options that are transparently costed with a sliding scale meaning you can do  trial period first.

And here's the best part... You're only committed for as long as you're satisfied with the results.

Whether you want us to mentor a staff member, produce a strategy document or advise on an ongoing project...

If we're not making a real difference, you don't continue to pay.

what does your support actually look like?

Our support comes in many forms, but here are some examples of the kind of support we have offered to charities up and down the UK.

By far our most common request is to mentor charity staff members.

The profile is almost always the same. Valued member of staff, been with the organisation a while. But as their efforts have been rewarded with promotion, they now find themselves operating at a level their skillset struggles to keep up with and they lack experience to fill in the gaps.

We provide an experienced charity sector professional to meet them (usually monthly) to discuss their strengths, weaknesses, goals etc. We challenge them to recognise their value but also acknowledge their shortcomings.

Some staff need 2-3 sessions, others more. But it's pay as you go, dependent on results!

You may recognise this situation — you need to produce a detailed strategy document, perhaps a three-year business plan or long-term marketing strategy for your charity.

Dozens of pages, original content, research, and case studies — and no time to do it. Not even close to enough time!

That’s where we come in. Third Sector Network regularly produces strategic reports and planning documents for charities of all sizes. A short Zoom or Teams session helps clarify your needs and priorities, after which we take the work away and deliver it.

We can produce a professional, comprehensive outcome that will simply need you to review and sign off on. If you're not happy, we carry on till you are at no extra cost.

A Zoom meeting between a man and a woman

This type of support isn’t right for every charity leader, but for some it’s exactly what’s needed.

You may not have a marketing specialist, community engagement officer, or HR expertise for volunteer recruitment and retention — and neither the budget nor capacity to fill those gaps.

Most weeks, you manage.

But when things feel harder, you call on us for an hour. We help you make sense of the challenges, identify what’s working or not, and offer experienced, practical advice — giving you access to specialist support when you need it most.

In the same way some businesses call in a lawyer to help them understand an issue better or an accountant to translate finances, you call on us to help you grasp your charity's challenges better and understand fully what your best options are.

What to include in your message

Put simply, tell us what's on your mind. Briefly outline the issue (or issues) that you feel you're coming up a bit short on. No need for War & Peace, but a simple outline of what's happening, not happening or you want to happen.

We'll probably come back to you with some questions to flesh it out a bit (that's standard) and invite you to respond.

All of this with not a hint of hard sell or commitment from our side, that's a promise.
